Porthminster Beach, St Ives
This Chair is in storage or undergoing maintenance
St Ives has seven beaches and our fantastic beach wheelchair is situated at the wonderful Porthminster.
Porthminster is a blue flag beach that is located next to the St Ives station and a short walk from St Ives town centre.
The white sands and calm clear blue waters are home to both dolphin and seals and they can often be seen in the bay, it really is worth keeping an eye out for these wonderful creatures! With excellent views over to the Goldrevy lighthouse.
There are plenty of facilities that are accessible for all abilities and the beach is accessible by wheelchair from the carpark; however it is worth noting the slope down to the edge of the beach is steep and of course made more slippery with the sand.

A cafe/restaurant is located near the beach serving food and drink with the option to takeaway, in addition to a beach shop close by and ice cream parlours.
There is a carpark close by that overlooks the beach but space is limited during the summer season as the beach is very popular with locals and holiday makers. During these busy times there is a park and ride option to get to the beach.
There is a seasonal dog ban from May 15th to September 30th during the hours of 10am to 6pm but welcome to the beach outside of these hours.
There are public toilets nearby the beach, they are situated behind the café building where the station is.
