Porthcothan, Padstow

This Chair is in storage or undergoing maintenance

Porthcothan is situated between Padstow and Newquay on the North Coast. It offers a beautiful sandy cove which is backed by grassy dunes and is protected by the National Trust. Porthcothan beach and the cliff top fields were used for the filming of Poldark.

Surrounding the beach are costal walking trails that offer beautiful views of the Atlantic sea. The long narrow beach  extends out during low tide to offer access to caves, rockpools and lagoons. It is popular with families with the open space being a perfect for activities.

Parking is available nearby with level access but does involve crossing a busy road to get to the beach. The toilets are accessible from within the car park.

The Porthcothan Bay Store is close by to the beach which serves food to go, gifts and local produce.

A variety of holiday homes and campsites are within walking distance to the beach.

Porthcothan beach is dog friendly all year round.
